Great looking jacket, simple with good features. Definitely needs to come in smaller sizes, as the small is still quite big. Anyone shorter than 5'8 would probably look like they're wearing their dad's jacket. Otherwise would make a great jacket for the team.

My squadron decided to purchase the Phantom to wear when we don't wear our military style uniforms. To a person, the members love them. Light weight (important here in southeast Texas), but warm enough for temps in the 30s and 40s. Our pilots love the plethora of pockets. The only suggestions that have been made are to manufacture these in extra small so our smallest member can wear one, and to add a velcro patch to the chest for name tags.

Just bought one as part of staff uniform requirements. Have worn it in rain-heavy and prolonged light rain with cold wind, and, thrown it in the truck 'just in case'. I'll own more than one of these! We have many other Condor products we train with, and they are durable, practical, and under priced. As a matter of fact, I'm ordering one more today....

An Excellent Buy
Ben (Virginia) 3/27/2011 7:28 PM
I'd been looking for a quality soft shell jacket for some time and had several considerations, but when I had a chance to look over and try on one of these at a local tactical shop, I knew which one I was going to buy. This is an extremely well-made and comfortable jacket, light enough for an outer layer on windy days, but also warm enough for layering when it's cold. I also like the from-fitting cut of the jacket, it's not too bulky and fits into a backpack great when not in use. This is one great jacket!

This jacket is just what I've been looking for. The material all over feels extremely durable and well crafted. The inside is very comfortable and soft, while the outside feel tough and does a great job repelling water. This jacket does great as a windbreaker due as well as a moderately cold weather coat. The zipper opening under the arms allow you to wear this jacket even when temperatures rise or if you happen to find yourself generating a lot of body heat as you might while training or on duty. The pockets are well placed with strong water resistant zippers. The jacket is fairly form fitting, so you won't have the bulky "coat" look with extra material and padding. It looks almost like a loose long sleeve shirt, which is what I was looking for. You could easily wear this under a tac-vest if you needed to without it feeling like there's bunched up material or restricted movement. The main zipper has a secondary component which lets you unzip it partially from the bottom, which can be useful for getting it around duty belts and whatnot. The only minor negative I can think of is that the two wire grommets inside the side pockets just route cords into the interior of the jacket, where they could hang loose, instead of giving you an actual wire guide through the layers of material all the way up to the collar area. I would have preferred that so that cords would be totally out of the way instead of being loose on the inside of the jacket. But really that's not a flaw, that's just a minor personal preference and doesn't at all detract from the usefulness of this jacket. It would also be neat if they added the wrist-area zipper pocket like some of the other Condor jackets have, but again, that's just something that I think would make it better; not that the lack of it makes this jacket worse.
